Come explore our world of whimsy where magical creatures may hide around any corner. Browse our medieval marketplace showcasing local artisans where you will find one-of-a-kind handmade goods, watch colorful live performances, and treat yourself to delicious locally sourced food and drink.

Activities at the Faire

Shop
Wander through the trees and over lush lawns into our marketplace to visit booths with fine merchandise handmade by local artisans and craftspeople.

Feast
Enjoy flavors from our local on-site food vendors.

Cheer
Dance to spirited Renaissance music, be mystified by acrobats, aerialists and costumed characters and behold knights in battle.

Raise a Glass
Sip refreshing drinks, including handcrafted mead from local breweries.

Play
Try your hand at archery and axe throwing. We have several areas with children’s games, including the scavenger hunt!

Strike a Pose
Show off your costume with a fun photoshoot using the backdrops and props custom made for the faire.

Join us at the Missouri Headwaters State Park in Montana.

The Gallatin River Overlook is located approximately 2.5 miles down Trident Road across from the Ling Rock Ferry Crossing. It is a beautifully groomed shady picnic area on the banks of the Gallatin River just before it joins the Madison and Missouri Rivers.

Nestled under the trees where the Gallatin River joins the Jefferson and Madison Rivers, the Magpie Renaissance Faire is worth the adventure to get there.

Follow the roadside signs to the free parking area. Regular shuttle service will be available to help visitors get from the parking area to the front entrance.

 

Directions from Butte, Montana:

  1. Take the I-90 Freeway to Exit 278 - Three Forks in Gallatin County, Montana (between Butte and Bozeman).

  2. At the interchange, turn Left onto the Frontage Road following signs for Headwaters State Park.

  3. Just before the 2 mile marker, turn Left onto Trident Road, Highway 286 and follow signs for Headwaters State Park

  4. Parking is limited: find parking on in the parking areas marked on the map. Then, either walk to the picnic area along trails or take the tractor/hay trailer shuttle to the Gallatin River Overlook.

  5. The Gallatin River Overlook picnic area is located across from the Ling Rock ferry crossing, right before the bridge over the Gallatin River.

Directions from Bozeman, Montana:

  1. Take I-90 Freeway West to Logan Exit 287

  2. Take a Right at the offramp to get to the Frontage Road

  3. Take a Left onto the Frontage Road, heading West along the river

  4. Turn Right (North) onto Trident Road, Highway 286

  5. Parking is limited: find parking on in the parking areas marked on the map. Then, either walk to the picnic area along trails or take the tractor/hay trailer shuttle to the Gallatin River Overlook.

  6. The Gallatin River Overlook picnic area is located across from the Ling Rock ferry crossing, right before the bridge over the Gallatin River.

Admission wristbands will be available at the faire entrance.
